Are you caught up in being overly busy? When is that last time you felt at peace? What does peace really mean to you?
For some, it is an inner feeling of tranquility and calmness. For others, it comes when there is order and harmony in their surroundings. For me, peace begins with a conscious state of mind, followed by an inner feeling – regardless of what is going on around me. I acknowledge that I rarely have control over my surroundings, so I focus instead on choosing thoughts that impact my state of Being.
I calm my busy mind several times throughout the day, beginning first thing in the morning. There are many ways to do this. I prefer a sitting meditation followed by practicing mindful awareness throughout my day.
Here is a guided Peace Meditation to support you in re-connecting to your place of peace.

Bring this practice into your life by becoming more aware of tension in your body. When you notice tension or tightness, consciously let it go by saying the word Peace.
Even during times when you are not aware of tension in your body, consider repeating the word Peace to activate the relaxation response.
I’ve always loved the song “Let There Be Peace on Earth” written in 1955 and sung by contemporary artists like Vince Gill, Harry Connick, Jr and Santana.
The lyrics begin with: “Let there be peace on earth, And let it begin with me…” and ends with
“Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow
To take each moment and live
Each moment in peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me”
What a great reminder that qualities like PEACE begin with me!
