I was recently blessed with my third grandchild. What a special experience to be present in the delivery room supporting another woman giving birth – even more remarkable, this time it was my daughter!
Rachel has been receiving Reiki throughout periods of her life beginning the day I found out I was pregnant with her. Reiki was a part of my support to help her get to sleep at night, for injuries and illnesses, to help calm her childhood fears, along with it being offered regularly for general wellness. Her body knows Reiki as it has flowed to her throughout her life. So, it came as no surprise when she agreed to receive Reiki during labor, and after I finished, she said, “Thanks, that was really helpful!” Those who have birthed a baby will understand how powerful a 20-30 minute ease from pain can be. How beautiful to be able to simply place my hands on her during a time when bystanders typically feel so helpless. Reiki was offered again during the actual delivery, this time from a few feet away allowing space for the medical staff. So grateful to be able to offer an extra bit of support.
Reiki Baby Eva!
Staying with my daughter and her husband the first couple weeks after Eva’s birth gave me an opportunity to introduce baby Eva to Reiki. While mom and dad were up throughout the night, Nana Ginny took the mornings to spend time caring for Eva. Not only was this a special bonding time for baby and me, each morning included a Reiki session for Eva. Babies respond so quickly to Reiki! Each time she fussed, and I offered her Reiki she would settle in – unless of course, she was really hungry. As with adults, Reiki for babies helps the caretaker better understand the true needs of the recipient. When Eva had trouble settling in for sleep, Reiki supported her in relaxing more fully.
Whether you are a mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, family member or friend – with permission, consider offering Reiki to your newborn and the entire family!
